++RIP John Graham. He was hugely influential to me as a crossword compiler. I never met him, but had one very nice encouraging email from him when I sent him an early puzzle. This was, I gather, entirely typical of a generous, enthusiastic man who was a good friend to many and a source of pleasure and inspiration to many more.++
