Chris #Huhne MP’s feeling the heat/For he sent a DM as a tweet/Dishing dirt on Theresa/He’ll have to appease ‘er/& also placate Downing St.
Shame it’s not possible to work in the whole story, which is priceless.
Huhne mistakenly sends an open tweet saying he doesn’t want his fingerprints on a story, then claims it’s a local press matter, and eventually has to admit he tipped off the papers that Theresa May lifted the undeportable cat part of her speech from UKIP’s Nigel Farage. Which reflects pretty badly on all concerned really!

A Defence Secretary named Liam/Was told to explain to the PM/Why a businessman chum/Just happens to come/Whenever someone goes to see ‘im.
Couldn’t resist another go at this one… the story’s not going away anyway. PM for Liam’s a slight stretch, you have to stress the first syllable to rhyme it, but I couldn’t resist it. Besides, two letters for two syllables is a great help in a 140-character limerick.

A day or two behind the news curve, this one – the story about UK heroin use declining was in the Times on Thursday and the Guardian on Friday. But the revelation that Theresa May played out to the Dandy Warhols, not Primal Scream, made me think of “Not if you were the last Junkie on Earth”, and I realised that “because heroin is so passe” was a perfect limerick length (link below).
This limerick was so short I was able to tweet it with the hashtag #TweetALimerick that @prodnose (Danny Baker) started a couple of days ago, but I think I missed the wave on that one.
