Right, your turn now!
I’m holding a limerick competition to mark the US publication of There Was an Old Geezer Called Caesar: A History of the World in 100 Limericks by Mick Twister on December 1. Out in the UK and elsewhere since Sept 5, it’s been described as “perfect for reading aloud after Christmas lunch” (Mumsnet reviewer).
The three finest limericks win a copy of the book. (Never mind if you’ve already bought one, it’ll make a great gift!)
To enter, write a limerick about a historical character of your choice (let’s stick to dead ones, to avoid libel/offence). No character limit, if using Twitter you can use more than one tweet or link via twitlonger etc.
Entries can be submitted via Twitter, addressed to @twitmericks, or as a comment either under the competition post at twitmericks.com or at facebook.com/twitmericks. Winners will be notified via whichever forum used.
Closing date: 1300gmt Wednesday December 4.
Judge: Mick Twister.
