I was bombarded with requests (OK, three) to do this story, but it presented a few challenges, not least how do you pronounce the word? I instantly read it as three syllables, something like cuv-fay-fay, but that rhymes with nothing except for the Spanish press agency EFE and – at a stretch – Sweet FA*, which may not travel well. My limericking colleague John Moynes (@JohnMoynes) went for two syllables in mid-line, to avoid the problem of whether it rhymes with waif or thief. while Leo Lewis (@Urbandirt) addressed that ambiguity head-on.
